Poetic Resistance is a new two-year curatorial programme at Make-up e.V. (Berlin) exploring poetic, subtle, and collective forms of resistance in everyday urban life. Through neighbourhood interventions, a Summer School, and an exhibition, and a reading group, the program asks how art can remain politically sharp without becoming marketable or didactic. The program is organized by Marina Resende and Jakob Margit Wirth.

How can art remain resistant in times when critique is easily absorbed, neutralized and inverted? How can artistic action offer resistance outside the convention of political opposition– and close to life experience? Talking Poetics of Resistance is a monthly reading and discussion group dedicated to exploring artistic and theoretical positions that unfold between aesthetics and everyday life. We’ll read and hear positions about the emergence of political agency and the possibilities of political aesthetics and poetics.
The reading circle takes place on the third Tuesday of every month.
