Stadt von Unten

We are residents and tenants of this district and this city, (house) project groups and urban policy initiatives, architects and project developers, urban researchers and sociologists, unemployed people, activists and displaced persons who know what it means when living and working spaces become priceless commodities.

That is why we are working on fundamental and concrete models that can create and secure affordable living space in the long term and at the same time open up new possibilities.

Based on our experiences from urban policy practice in Berlin, we founded the Initiative Stadt von Unten in spring 2014. In addition to preventing privatisation, we have since been working on a model project for an urban development with a long-term perspective from below – for a tenant city, developed by the tenants.
