DESCRIPTION:On 18 September\, the exhibition at the Zentrum für Aktuelle Kunst (ZAK) opens at the Zitadelle Spandau\, bringing together a selection of Mart Stam Prize recipients from the past 30 years. I will be showing Speculating on the Void\, a work developed through the temporary occupation of a vacant office building on Berlin’s Kurfürstendamm\, engaging with speculation\, vacancy and the politics of urban space. SUMMARY:Commoning Spaces - Hans Sauer Stiftung München
DESCRIPTION:On 19 October\, I will contribute to Commoning Spaces\, a conference by the Hans Sauer Foundation in Munich. My contribution looks at artistic strategies of appropriating housing and urban spaces in the tension between vacancy\, privilege and ownership. Through examples from Parasite Art\, I will discuss how performative interventions can disturb existing power relations and open up alternative models of use\, access and commoning.
