SUMMARY:Symposium – Parasitic Politics and Aesthetics\, Parasite School
DESCRIPTION:Symposium – Parasitic Politics and Aesthetics\, Parasite School\, Day 1 \nThe Parasite School marks the opening week of On Parasiting\, an international artistic project that tests parasitic tactics as a contemporary methodology of resistant artistic practices. Six artists will be working undercover within different companies and organisations\, where they take up paid labour.  \nThe project asks how resistance can be enacted from inside existing structures and from a position of complicity. It responds by deliberately operating within these systems and experimenting from the inside: through performative adaptation and precise acts of irritation\, it renders visible relations of power\, processes of appropriation\, and economic dependencies. The parasites carve out the fragility of their host systems and search for spots of resistant artistic practice. \nPositioned as a coda to the internal school for the parasite artists\, the symposium offers a space to present and discuss tactics\, hosts\, and modes of irritation in dense dialogue with contributors from the arts\, philosophy\, and social sciences. \n20.06 | Symposium On Parasiting – Parasitic Politics and Aesthetics (Day 1) \nGrounded in the specificity of case studies\, including the work of economist Jana Costas as well as two forthcoming interventions within the long-term project On Parasiting\, the panel formats on Day 1 focus in particular on the aesthetic-political dimensions of irritation\, disruption\, and resistance\, taking existing sites\, resources\, and infrastructures as their point of departure. Contributions by sociologist and philosopher Oliver Marchart\, curator Post Brothers\, activists from peng!\, and artist Jakob Margit Wirth open up a space in which theory and practice intersect. The day closes with the screening of Pilvi Takala’s Movie The Stroker\, which documents one of the artist’s past infiltration experiences. \nMore information on our website\, social media or sign up to our newsletter or stay updated on Instagram on.parasiting. \n For the symposium\, please register via: register@parasiting.net (not binding) \nProgram:\n 14:00 Welcome and summary of the Parasite Internal School\n 14:30 Case Study: Cracks\, Critique\, Cooptation – What is the Role of Research?\, Jana Costas\n 15:15 Introduction of parasite artists and their hosts\n 16:00 Coffee break\n 16:15 Stream: The Aesthetics of Parasitic Art with Post Brothers\, Jakob Margit Wirth\, and Marie Rosenkranz.\n 17:00 Keynote: Conflictual Aesthetics\, Oliver Marchart\n 17:30 Panel discussion on the aesthetic-political understanding of Parasite\, moderated by Marina Resende Santos\, with Oliver Marchart\, Marie Rosenkranz\, Jakob-Margit Wirth\, and Post Brothers\n 18:15 Break with snacks\n 18:30 Short-film screening and discussion with peng! collective \n19:00 Open Dinner at diffrakt with Bar \n

SUMMARY:INSERTIONS - Interventions in the Public Space
DESCRIPTION:What happens when resistance enters existing circuits of work and life? Artistic action can inhabit everyday life to confront and slip under oppressions\, without becoming slogan\, spectacle\, or moral instruction. \nInsertions gathers a series of artistic interventions unfolding in and around Papierstraße. Inspired by the poetics of resistance and drawing from practices of subtle infiltration\, the programme explores public space as a site of encounter\, friction\, humour\, and unexpected power to act. Six invited artists work with performance\, material interjections and new community alliances to stir critical and joyful momentum on the streets– insertions into the social and material routines of everyday life. \nThe interventions emerge through neighbourhood relations and local rhythms\, on overlooked infrastructures and situated forms of attention. Between poetic displacement and tactical precision\, INSERTIONS asks how resistance may circulate through life experience itself. \nOpening\n17 July 2026\, 18h00 \nTalking Poetics of Resistance\nReading & Discussion Circle\n21 July 2026\, 18h30 \nWhistling in the Dark: Dispatches from the Imperial Core \nTalk with Nick Wiley and Jason Lazarus on art & politics in the USA \n23 July 2026\, 18h00 \nClosing gathering\n25 July 2026 \nwith works by Ceren Saner\, Christina Stark\, Katharina Lüdicke\, Kayla Elrod and Mark Ballyk\, Marie Berlovitz and Elsa Cuissard\, Sara Manfredi\, Viviana Druga \nconcept by  \nJakob Margit Wirth and Marina Resende Santos \nMore details on the website.
